We’ve been having long conversations about
Where we’re headed
The differences so ingrained,
It’s almost biological
Differences Not Attractions
We had a conversation, at length,
Which ended with a question
Escaping her supple lips,
“Do you know why the caged bird sings?”
She knew me
She knew that I perhaps knew the answer
All too well
I felt confined
I dreamt of open roads with no destinations
Her dreams, however,
Were closer to home
I’ve found myself more at home
Amongst the clouds
Crossing state lines at 500mph
Than any physical location could hold dear
So, my love,
My heart yearns for freedom
Not unlike that of the metaphorical caged bird
Resounding within
My answer to you is, “Yes”
